Bode George: I will leave Nigeria if Tinubu becomes president in 2023

Bode GeorgeI will leave Nigeria if Tinubu becomes president in 2023

Bode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Saturday, said he would leave the country if former Lagos state governor Bola Tinubu become Nigeria’s president in 2023.

The PDP chieftain was speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on the signing of the new electoral amended bill by president Muhammadu Buhari, which he said would bring about improvements in the electoral system.

“If by whatever chance Tinubu gets to the villa, I won’t be part of this country and I am not joking. I can go to Ghana and be watching with binoculars from afar. You will see what will happen.

“This is Alpha-Beta in Lagos. He will create some Alter-Beta somewhere to carry your money. His wife will now be Senate President. His son will be Governor of Lagos. His daughter will be Iyaloja of Nigeria.

“What has he done to prove that he deserves to be honoured by anybody in this country?” he queried.

Meanwhile, prior to the 2015 general elections, the former chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, had also vowed to go on exile if then presidential candidate, now president Buhari, wins the election.

Buhari did not only win the 2015 presidential election, he was also re-elected for a second term in office in 2019.

When Mr George was reminded of his promise in an interview in 2019, he said he would still proceed on exile.

“What will I be doing here? I can decide to go and live anywhere. Look at everyone surrounding him (Buhari).

“So, I am not joking about it, what will I be doing here? At 70, what will I be doing here? All we have been doing to restructure the country has been lost.

“We have been trying to ensure balance in the polity but all that has gone. What else will I be doing here?”

However, Mr George has remained in the country since, despite his promise to go on exile; making this recent comment appear hard to believe
