Dukes Akins Foundation and Femhub Foundation Empowers Over 100 Widows In Delta State

A Non-Governmental Organization, Dukes Akins Foundation and Femhub Foundation which is aimed at promoting the welfare and economic empowerment of disadvantaged widows, the girl child and orphans has made over 100 widows in Ekpan Community of Delta State smile through her programme tagged "Make a widow smile"
There was massive turnout of widows of Ekpan community on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Ekpan community hall, the widows were gifted cash, food and clothing(wrapper) by the Dukes Akins Foundation and Femhub Foundation as part of its humanitarian services
The founder of Dukes Akins foundation which was established in 2019, Amb. Yemisi Ajayi said the gesture of her Initiative was part of the effort of her foundation to assist the widows because they understand the pains and stress they go through, therefore they are here to provide financial support to enable the poor widows do businesses and take care of themselves and their children
While the Founder of Femhub Foundation from Ghana, whose foundation supports women and Orphans, Nana Konadu, said the aim of the exercise is to make widows who suffer exploitation, deprivation, persecution as a result of their husbands demise to smile by empowering them and giving them business training to start up with
Nana said, It is very important that we educate and empower the widows to be able to fend for themselves without being disrespected or looked down by the society. Encouraging the widows to live and fulfill their destiny in life, it is possible even after the demise of your husband 'she said.
Guests speakers who are also widows encouraged the widows present that with the empowerment which the charitable-foundations Dukes Akins and Femhub has provided it is an opportunity to be independent and liberated from hardships
The first guest speaker, Ohiorenoya Enakeno Rosaline(Rev. Mrs) urged the widows to be close to GOD, that the holy Spirit can heal every situation and that is why the holy Spirit has put it in the heart of the Dukes Akins Foundation and Femhub Foundation to assist them, as it is said' JESUS is the husband of the widows
Further the second speaker, Lady Lilian Orieoghene talked about her experience as a widow and how she was able to scale through
According to her it is not easy been a widow but life must go on
She encouraged them that there is still life for them, therefore they should put themselves together henceforth and move forward by doing things to improve themselves
she reminded the widows to always hold fast to GOD and in whatever they do they should not let people pity or look down on them
The third speaker, Madam Uchenna Chinwe who spoke on how to start-up a business educated and engaged the widows in a business talk
She said as a widow, first you must tell yourself that you can make it in life and then put it into action by starting up a business
In her speech' start up a business with the cash given you by the Dukes Akins Foundation and Femhub Foundation, GOD blesses little efforts which with time will spring up to a big one
you can start up a business for as low as Five thousand naira, for example with #5,000 one can start Ugu leaf (vegetable) business and make good profit from it, she added
Madam Uchenna Chinwe encouraged the widows to work and save money from it, if not it will have a negative effect on their children
Meanwhile, Mrs. Stella Arubi a medical personnel carried out medical check-up and treatment on the widows after Health educating them of the need to work and keep themselves busy to avoid idleness which may lead to illness, sadness and depression
She retirated that over thinking can lead to High blood pressure(HBP), instead lean solely to GOD almighty and do what makes you happy 'she said
Also, she advised them to always go for medical check-up and take care of their health, sighted an example that instead of taking alcohol (ogogoro) take water
Thereafter, the health workers screened the people for blood pressure, sugar level and other common ailments. Drugs were given to those with ailments that needed urgent medical attention, as well as referrals as the cases were.
Meanwhile, the widows in their excitement showered praises and prayers on the foundations as they expressed their joy
Expressing his delight at what he saw, the Ekpan Development Community Chairman, Newton Obey Onaodowan appreciated the Dukes Akins Foundation and Femhub Foundation for what they did in their community
According to him' the people are happy especially the widows are very happy for the kind gesture, they haven't seen this before, this is the first of it kind happening in this Community
He prayed Almighty GOD to bless the Dukes Akins Foundation and Femhub Foundation and increase them from strength to strength.
