The Delta State Taskforce On Environment has reiterated its stand on zero tolerance to vices that have negative and harmful effects on the environment.

At the early hours on Thursday June 9, 2022, Officials of the taskforce apprehended cart pusher caught dislodging waste by the Ekpan bridge along housing complex road in Ekpan

Also,  passerby along Sapele Road opposite trailer park and by PTI junction in Uvwie Local Government Area were caught disposing waste on the road indiscriminately

 

Reacting to this, the taskforce chairman Honorable Sylvester Oromoni  decried what he called indiscriminate disposal of refuse, saying that this was jeopardising government’s efforts at making Delta a clean state

He said that indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the road median, on highways and water channels was unhealthy, adding that every individual had a role to play in making the state clean. 

There is Private Sector Participation (PSP) which is approved by the government to handle collection of refuse in the state but you still find refuse heaped in every nook and cranny by those who are in the habit of dumping waste indiscriminately

According to Oromoni'  indiscriminate dumping of refuse could have effect on the image of the state and constitute health hazards

 Delta state must be kept clean therefore enforcement of the law has to be supported by well-meaning citizens

We have the state taskforce on environment team going round and monitoring the Environment, therefore anyone caught disposing refuse indiscriminately in the state will henceforth be prosecuted, he said.
