Officials of Delta state taskforce on environment took today Saturday, 2nd of September 2023 to desilt drains and cleared weeds surrounding the Governor's Office Annex in Warri, Delta State
According to the Taskforce, Government is passionate and committed to making the environment more habitable and conducive for residents hence, they took out time to promote cleanliness by clearing the drains of all blockage and removal of all unwanted weed and grasses at the surrounding of the annex
In an interview with the State's Taskforce Coordinator, Mr. Ese Johnny he said "Their agency, the Delta State Taskforce On Environment whose duty is to ensure sanity in the environment functioned as the quick response arm of the state government and have been freeing several clogged up drains from waste and silts in the entire state to ensure free flow of water
Mr. Jonny in his speech said" Charity they say begins from the house, so we need to start it from here. This cleanup exercise also is to show residents to own their environment and keep it clean at all times
I want to use this medium to charge Deltans to ensure maintenance and cleanliness of all tertiary drains in their domain
I task residents of Delta to maintain clean and healthy environment, warning them on the health hazards and negative effects of environmental pollution.
Furthermore, the Taskforce coordinator advised residents, “to always do the needful by desisting from polluting the environment with garbages and faeces, or any particles capable of obstructing free flow of water system which may eventually cause stagnation, breed mosquitoes, and make our roads unaccessible, among other complication.
