Abductors Release DELSU Final Year Student After N3m Ransom Payment  April 26, 2022 Chris Oghojafor, a final year student of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, who was kidnapped last week Friday, has been released. Oghojafor, a student in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, was released after N3 million was paid as ransom. His abductors had earlier demanded N50 million as ransom to secure his release, but the sum was cut down to N3 million after several pleas from family members. His release was confirmed by his father J. Oghojafor, who is a legislative aide to Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege “My son, Chris Oghojafor, who was kidnapped in Abraka by Fulani herdsmen, since on Friday evening, has just been released now. Glory be to God,” the father said. Reports say the victim was released near Ugolo-Orogun by the railway in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

The court took arguments on application for stay of proceeding. Lead counsel for the prosecution, Prof. Amuda Kannike, SAN, argued that the application was not challenged since there was no counter affidavit before the court, adding that it implied that paragraphs in the motion had been admitted. Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, dies at 83 23 April 2022 The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, has passed on. He was 83 years old. The top Yoruba monarch died in the late hours of Friday, according to palace officials. Adeyemi died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti,  The PUNCH  was told. The late Alaafin’s first son, Prince ‘Tunde, and other children had received the monarch’s remains at Idi-Igba, Oyo town early Saturday morning. Lagos driver crushes LASTMA official to death 21 April, 2022 The General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Bolaji Oreagba, has explained how Jamiu Issa, the Authority’s patrol team leader in Ajah area of the state was crushed to death by a driver who was trying to escape arrest on Wednesday. 2023: Gov Okowa’s chief of staff, nine commissioners resign — Official Ovie Agas, the chief of staff to the Delta State governor, and nine commissioners have resigned their appointments. The Commissioner for Information in the state, Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this at a press conference on Wednesday in Asaba. He said the resignation was in compliance with the provision of Section 84, subsection (12) of the Electoral Law on political appointees seeking elective positions.
